Welcome Centre
& Wild & The Moon Cafe
Designed in the 1970s by Walter Gropius’ firm The Architects Collaborative, the Cultural Foundation was built to address Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan al Nahyan’s desire to foster and nurture cultural consciousness for all citizens of the new nation of the UAE. Working closely with the architects it was key the design language and material finish of the interior paid tribute to the architecture of the Cultural Foundation Building. Archways inspired the retail display units and interior design features throughout. Natural materials of rope, woods and traditional Emirati craft methods such as Khos weaving were utilised alongside the original concrete of the building to create a contemporary and welcoming environment. Wild & The Moon vegan cafe were central to the draw of the Welcome Centre; incorporating their scheme into the overall aesthetic of natural materials and urban concretes to create a seamless offering.
